Summer Baskets
Summer Baskets is a quick to stitch organized scrappy quilt. It’s a quilt made from a jelly roll (organized) and your stash (scrappy). You can also use 2½” strips, Fat Quarters, yardage or “harvested” fabric from clothing. There are roughly 6 different block designs and you will make 13 basket blocks for the 65½” x 65½” quilt or 18 blocks for the 65” x 82” quilt. Make as many of each design as you like. For example, if the design doesn’t suit you make one or none. If you love it to pieces, make many. This is your choice since this is your quilt.
You will need zillions of 2½” half square triangles (HST). Pick your favorite method. I used the Angle Trim Tool to cut triangles from a 2½” strip and stitched two triangles together for the HST. However, if you’re using yardage or Fat Quarters, you may find Triangles on a Roll paper very efficient. There are other papers and some non-paper quick methods. Choose what works best for you. I’m sure there are fabulous YouTube videos on various HST methods.
