October 6th, how did we get here already?
October is my official month, and I celebrate each day. It’s my birth month! This year so far has brought sadness, joy, challenges, and opportunities to learn new skills. So this October, I’ve decided to focus on self-care. My goal is to do one nice thing for myself every day.
It seems a bit selfish, and I’ll admit that it is. However, I believe in putting your oxygen mask on first so you can help others.
We’re six days in, and I’m meeting my goal!
I also have some big news to celebrate. The website, www.ColourfulStitches.com, is finished, up and running. That is huge for me! I’ve been trying to get things updated and modernized for a few years now. Thanks to Brian, my webmaster, for taking this on between all his fun illustration projects.
The online store is ready, too! Migrating to a new platform is no joke, and it took much more time than I anticipated.
One new feature is the ability to sign up for a course, or workshop, or two. Yup, videos, a pattern, and support, all in one place and not on Facebook!
My October gift to the Colourful Stitches community is…
A free introductory course from the 4FQ series, beginning October 26 in honor of the full moon!
Registration will be open October 15–20, 2026, so mark your calendar. The course begins October 26, and the project is a wall hanging. My guess is that the piecing could be done in one normal day.
I’ll be using Halloween fabric, but you do you!
Oh, did I mention the cost? Free. Don’t you just love October?
Join me on October 15 at Village Quilters in Catonsville, MD, for a lecture at 10:30 a.m.
